However, in this country the recipe for missing child hype is wealthy white parents.
Yup. Remember the 24/7 Natalie Holloway hype?
i am sure most of you are now aware of the missing british girl madeleine mccann, who was abducted from portugal a few weeks ago.
the media is making a massive thing about this, and i am just wondering why.
they say 70,000 kids go missing each year in the uk alone - but this case seems to be unique in that it is so widely reported.
However, in this country the recipe for missing child hype is wealthy white parents.

so to top off my wonderful set of horrible happenings as of late...my washer was broke.
so after a couple of weeks i put off going down the street and borrowing an unused one from a friends garage.
i was told it was buried and hard to get out, so i took a bit of time tackling the job.
What Crumpet said.
T and I are heading out for the day. If you can find a way to get here, my washer and dryer are yours (or any other time you need them). I'll leave the back door unlocked and you can come in through the side gate if you want. Just don't let my dogs escape ;-) (I know, I know, with your luck...)
why did charlie have to die?
why couldn't he have swam out of that window?
he was such a good character.
"And what was up with Kate's makeup in the flash forward?"
I think her makeup was so noticeable because she's not wearing any on the island. She looked really different - just as hot as ever. I love her.
i have always been slightly uncomfortable using the phone, but over the last month i seemed to overcome it in a more general way.
to financially bad effect.
i just got my bill for one month and its horrendous.
Holy shite! Now I'm scared to get my bill. Damn you and your drunk dialing.
why did charlie have to die?
why couldn't he have swam out of that window?

The porthole looked too small for Charlie to fit through. BUT here's my hope: Desmond stops futzing with the fire extinguisher and grabs the oxygen tanks and swims around to the window, etc. I'm not giving up yet.
Now we have to wait until next January.
ah, those were the good ol' days.
you could underline with a pen and the paper wouldn't rip.
you would pinch the paper between your fingers and feel like you're holding a piece of paper instead of a tissue.
"I always thought the thin paper in the Bibles would make some good rolling papers..."
You thought correctly ;-)
i recently wrote a letter to every family member i could find an address to which exposed the wt org as the group of fools they actually are!
interesting thing is that not one letter was sent to my home congregation by anyone and the letter circulated to almost every family member i have; so instead of turning me in as i suspected they would do, they are talking about it openly and distributing it to all family members-even ones i couldn't find an address to.
i'm winning this war!
I'd love to read your letter, if you feel like sharing it.
why do people go to church.
what is the purpose?
you don't have to go to a certain place to worship god.
I recommend trying it at least once for every exJW if for no other reason than it breaks down the mental barriers, that the WTS implanted, in their attempts to demonise everything. Once you can walk in, without qualms, you have accomplished something significant for yourself, IMHO.
I spent the afternoon of September 11, 2001, in St. Patrick's Cathedral in NYC. It was the first time I'd been in a church since getting df'ed and it was one of the most profound experiences of my life, also probably the only place in the city I could feel calm on that day. And I did feel safe there.
My daughter and I also went to midnight mass at a Catholic church in Prague on New Year's Eve (curiosity). It was interesting for about 15 minutes and then I spent the next hour and a half trying to figure out how to leave without insulting the true believers.
But for purposes of worship, I just have a really hard time convincing myself to cross that line, though I have been strongly considering it lately. I think it might be more of a desire to get out socially though, more than spiritually, and that just seems wrong somehow. My neighbor's invited me to her Unitarian church, which I'm sure would be very laid back, but I'm afraid I'll get there and be terribly bored. It's like I want to want to worship, but I don't WANT to worship. Does that make sense?
ok, so you deny the existence of a god, or you lack belief in a god.
my question why do you get so angry over a mythical being?
no one gets as upset over the tooth fairy, santa claus or the easter bunny, as i have seen some of the atheists on this board get over the slightest mention of god.
Have you ever told a lie? Have you ever stolen anything.... no matter how small. Have you ever judged anyone for victimizing you by way of the same crimes that you are guilty of? You are not good.
I don't need a book Lola. I need a Savior to step in and pay my sin debt and let me off the hook for my crimes. Likewise, you cannot do that which you profess and know to be right regardless of what you do, think, imagine or otherwise. You must be born again.

Wow. Dude. I was about to ask "What happened to you?," but then I just had a flashback to riding home from a district convention with you in the late '80s and you were so excited because your father had figured out some mathematical Biblical algorithm that pinned down the exact date of Armageddon. And you were really pumped about getting your spiritual life on track because the end was so close (sometime within the next two or three years at the time) and you were so happy that your dad was smart enough to figure it all out and share it with you. And as always, you weren't watching the road.
I took you with a grain of salt on that scary, weird ride and I take you with a double dose now. I can't think of a delicate way to put this, so here goes. Have you considered talking to a mental health professional? Not being in any way sarcastic here.
